Zakat ul-Fitr:
Zakat ul-Fitr is payable during Ramadan and before Eid and is based on the following hadith:
Ibn Abbas (r.a.) said: "The Prophet (p.b.u.h.) enjoined Zakat-ul-Fitr to purify the fasting person from verbal errors and evil deeds and to feed the poor. Whoever gives it before Eid Prayer, it will be an accepted Zakat, and whoever gives after Eid prayer, it will be Sadaqa," narrated by Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, Hakim and others.
Zakat ul-Fitr (Fitrana) is one Saa`a (two handfuls) of wheat, barley, dates, raisins and walnuts. Imam Abu Hanifa said it can be paid in money.
Zakat ul-Fitr (Fitrana) for 2026 is €9.00 per person.
